S$1.8m fund set up to help 10,000 needy students get spectacles

SINGAPORE: Local optical firm Nation Optical has set up a fund worth S$1.8 million to help 10,000 needy students to get spectacles that they need.

The Student Eye Care Fund is part of Nation Optical’s 15th anniversary celebrations and is a joint effort with the Health Promotion Board.

Following vision screenings conducted by the Health Promotion Board in primary and secondary schools, up to 10,000 needy students will each be issued a voucher.

These can then be redeemed at Nation Optical’s branches at Ang Mo Kio and Bukit Batok Central from up to 1,000 different designs of spectacles. — CNA/vm
